Classic Obedience Classes -
Our Guarantee - In each of our obedience courses, you will be given written homework sheets during each class to help you plan your homework sessions. On the last class you and your dog are tested. If you and your dog are having a "bad test day" we have you return for a re-test. If on the re-test you and your canine companion are not up to standards set for our different courses, you will be invited back to repeat the entire course again at no extra charge. This guarantee is dependant on your attending all classes and completing your homework of the course.
Beginner - All Ages of Dogs
This course is to help train your dog to focus on the handler with other distractions around. Dogs in this course must be up to date with inoculation records. The beginner class is on lead so that when you give a command there is no other choice but to listen and obey the handler.
The dog will learn during this course with motivation, praise & correction:
- Heel
- Automatic Sit
- Standard Sit
- Down - at heel & away from heel
- Stay
- Come or Recall
- Finish
- Stand
- Proper leash handling
Level 2 Beginner - Must complete the initial beginner obedience course
This course is to practice and perfect the exercises and techniques learned in the previous beginner course at an advanced level. We want to condition the dog to focus and obey to listen off lead. As well as introduce control exercises, retrieving, some agility exercises.
Advanced Course - This course is designed for owners/handlers who want to teach the dog the principals of each exercise, perfect heeling off lead, figure 8 - off lead, drop on recall, flat retrieve, high jump retrieve, broad jump, long/out of sight stays and down/stays.
Howlin' Good Times training methods are about treating the canine as the species they are. We must remember that they are animals first, then breed then the animals name. If we live in an environment where they are fulfilled as animals they were be a more balanced, happier companion. And the owner will be a happier dog owner!!
Howlin' Good Times also offers these training services to dogs and their handlers that aren't in the local area. For those of you who wish to have your dog trained whilst you are away on holidays or if you just don't have the time to start your dog off in obedience classes,
4-6 Week Basic Obedience OR Behavioral Modification - Bring your dog to our facility to receive the training your dog needs. Your dog will be accommodated at the beautiful Howlin' Good Times 160 acre property and boarding facility where they will take part in the daycare as well as take part in daily private training by the Owner & Certified Trainer of Howlin' Good Times.
Upon your return, we will spend the time you need to learn how to establish pack leadership and learn how to confidently work with your dog and follow through with the foundation that was created at Howlin' Good Times.
One On One Training - A Certified Trainer can come to you or come and stay in Drayton Valley, Alberta for the time needed and receive private one on one obedience training or behavioral modification for your dog. Please contact us for more information.
